Pappabuene takes its name from the two small houses the restaurant is built around. These buildings were constructed in 1925 and originally served as expedition offices for the Framnes ferries. At the time, these ferries mainly transported men – fathers – to and from work, and in everyday language the houses became known as “Pappabuene,” meaning “the fathers’ sheds.”
In 2010, Pappabuene opened as a restaurant, and today it is a well-known summer destination in Oslo. Our spacious outdoor seating area can accommodate around 200 guests and offers stunning views of the fjord. On sunny summer days, the sound of seagulls, the sea breeze, and the lively atmosphere create a truly unique setting for both guests and staff.
Pappabuene is a seasonal restaurant with a strong focus on high volume, good energy, and a relaxed but professional dining experience. You can read more about us at
